I walk into my studio and I feel peace and security. In this room I have fed myself and regurgitated time and time again. This is a metaphor of course for a space where paint is used to construct and deconstruct the not so obvious. Feelings are translated through making marks on a white expanse of cloth, and I am totally immersed. Pigment surrounds the brush entirely and the canvas fills with expressive marks. I step back, and it’s as if words are now painted and the scene is now marked, and altogether a story is unfolding. Day after day, I come back to continue this play. I find my child self in all its innocence and honesty within these walls, I am so grateful for this.
